We’re hearing more in the news about our society’s addiction to oil. Our future will be one where we will be relying less on fossil fuels, both because the demand for oil will soon outstrip supply, and because of climate change.

It is clear that we have mortgaged our future and things are getting worse. On many fronts the blind and the greedy are setting the agendas, and as a result our children’s children will be living in a world where life is nasty, brutish and short.
If you want to influence the political process in Australia you need to understand it. This may seem obvious but there are few people who have a good understanding of how the system works. Most people have some idea but it is only by understanding it fully that you can be an effective political activist. Very few people understand it fully. Of those that do, most work for political parties or lobby groups.

"Try to image an airplane suddenly losing its engines. It was really a crash..." A crash that put Cuba into a state of shock. There were frequent blackouts in its oil-fed electric power grid, up to 16 hours per day. The average daily caloric intake in Cuba dropped by a third.
